Re: Court case tomorrow re Delica lights in Manitoba

Too bad we don't get to choose what regulations we're charged under. I was charged under Manitoba's Highway Traffic Act. Federal regulations set a standard, which can be augmented by provinces; Manitoba. Further, Section 88(1) of the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act, H60 says that if a police officer th...

Re: Court case tomorrow re Delica lights in Manitoba

No, Falco; I'm not saying I wasn't allowed to speak. I think maybe I wasn't clear about what kind of trial this was. It was in traffic court. Provinces are allowed to add requirements in addition to the federal highway traffic act; Manitoba law says there must be DOT or SAE stamp on the light or the...

Re: Court case tomorrow re Delica lights in Manitoba

Guilty, with an absolute discharge. This means I don't have to pay the fine ($171) but I can't put the vehicle back on the road, except illegally. Judge says ALL vehicles in MB without a DOT or SAE stamp on their lights are driving illegally and will eventually be taken off the road. She didn't give...

Court case tomorrow re Delica lights in Manitoba

Hi there. So, in spite of all your wise advice and experience, Manitoba Public Insurance and Winnipeg police are insisting that E13 lights are not acceptable in MB because they don't have a DOT stamp. Tomorrow I go to court, basically to fight the ticket they gave me for having lights not up to code...

Manitoba Delica Drivers--can we unite?

Hello. I posted a while back about Manitoba Public Insurance refusing to accept my E13 lights. They have pulled my vehicle off the road, and everyone I've talked to about getting a new safety says the same thing: They are telling garages not to safety right-side drive vehicles. Brandelica posted abo...

Re: headlights

Latest lunacy from Manitoba: If they're FACTORY INSTALLED E-13s, then they're ok, but if they're AFTER MARKET, they're not.
William suggested I find someone with logic. What're the chances, do you think? :-(

Re: headlights--watch out, Manitobans

Well, folks, looks like I spoke too soon about my E13 headlilghts. Manitoba has decided it won't accept them. They must have a DOT or SAE number. Anybody know what I need to do now? I have a 1992 Delica Exceed. They say I need DOT/SAE numbers on front and back lights, and side indcators. Although my...

Re: headlights

I do take your point though, Green1. They were clearly pulling over only those vehicles that were a little bit old or a little bit off the mainstream. I was pretty ticked, especially since they left me sitting there for a long time on a very warm day with FIVE kids in the van, who'd been promised a ...

Re: headlights

No, I think I do still need them re-aimed. I have often thought they weren't lighting the correct side of the road but didn't realize why.
I'll let you know if the re-aiming satisfies.
Thanks, everyone. Saved by the Deli-lovers again!
Cheers,
Susan

Re: headlights

Christine: Thanks for your message--I didn't see it before I sent my message to Jason. I appreciate the time you took to send all that info. I'm going to print it and take it to my neighbourhood garage. I'm not aware there's a wiring problem, just the aim problem; I'll hope so, anyway. Thanks again,...

Re: headlights

Thanks for the tips, Jason. Falco: I bought my Delica from a forum user (former forum user) named Jymz--James Woodman. He claimed to have done all kinds of work, including the headlights, but since I have subsequently had to replace the head gasket, and then the whole motor because it threw a rod, a...

Re: headlights

Oops--I'm not sure; sorry. I have a 1992--does that help? There's nothing on the paperwork; I can go outside and have a look, should I?
Thanks, Jason.

headlights

Hi there. Got caught in a Manitoba Public Insurance inspection last week, an they say my headlights are pointing the wrong direction--still set for left-side of the road driving. Can anyone tell me if there are particular headlights I need to replace them with?
Many thanks,
Susan

Manitoba Delicites--want parts?

Hi there. I have a used motor; the bottom half threw a piston but at the time the top half was BRAND NEW--only 1,000 K on it. Glen sent me a different motor from Coombs, and I was going to drive the old motor to BC when I go there with my kids soon, but it occured to me it might be of use to someone...
