Good bye and thank you

Well, our 93 Delica was passed off to its new owner today. We bought the van in 08 mainly for my SO. Since her passing, I have hardly driven it. Too many memories. Fortunately Deb's son wanted it. He picked it up today and started the journey back to Whitehorse. Those of you in the Yukon might keep ...

Insurance in Yukon

We have had some sadness recently. My SO, Deb passed away. Our L300 was hers mainly. As much as I would like to keep it, I have too many vehicles as it is. Her son is going to take it but he lives in Whitehorse. He is having some difficulty finding insurance. I have it insured with Primum here in Al...

Re: Feelings about accepting PayPal for vehicle

I am not certain, but I think Interac email transfer only works within Canada. ie. Cannot send funds from US bank to Canada.

Re: Feelings about accepting PayPal for vehicle

I would only transfer ownership of the vehicle after you had the funds out of your paypal account and into your hands. Too many stories about buyers initiating disputes in PP after receiving goods; PP withholding funds from the seller; seller ends up with no money and no goods. Also, what are the PP...

Re: Finally, an American car to be proud of again

".... ruined far more landscapes..." Glenn, When was the last time you visited the oil sands? When the open pits are reclaimed, they actually support more flora and fauna than in the original state. Granted, it may not look exactly like it did originally but muskeg landscape is not that pr...

Re: US driving

I drive and ride a motorcycle quite a bit in the Western states. I too find that traffic (esp in Cali) moves quickly. However, I find that the problem is not the speed itself but several other factors that may cause issues. - speed limit artificially low for the road - slow drivers refusing to trave...

While showing much promise, lack of sales, high R&D and production costs, +/- shaky management decisions, it appears that Fisker is in danger of becoming yet another footnote in automotive history.

Re: Finally, an American car to be proud of again

Just watched a programm on Speed called Logic. It was about several electric cars that are not the ones you hear about much. Some ineresting cars to say the least. However, there is still not much in the pipe tat I could see that addressed the main "plug in electric" problem. That is that ...

Re: Finally, an American car to be proud of again

Interesting read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_incentives_for_plug-in_electric_vehicles I am not posting this trying to be a troll. Just as a point of interest. As a counter, I wonder how one would go about finding out what the "subsidy" is for petro powered vehicles when everyt...

Re: Finally, an American car to be proud of again

No doubt the issues with EV's will contine to be addressed and improvements made. To date, there are still many issues (mainly range) that keeps them from becoming too mainstream. I do wonder though why manufacturers are not using high efficiency diesel engines to power onboard electric generators i...

Re: Winterize....Alberta bound.

Just make sure your antifreeze and cooling system are in good shape. Rod What do you mean by that exactly? New A/F and a good rad/water pump and thermostat. Just curious about what could go wrong if I'm ill prepared. k Just make sure that the coolant is relatively new, good for -40, water pump in g...

Re: Winterize....Alberta bound.

Nothing special. Just make sure your antifreeze and cooling system are in good shape.
In block plug in heater, synthetic 0-30 or 5-30 oil and a battery maintainer and you should be good to go.

Re: HAPPY CHRISTMAS! Electrical dead! Main fuse???

Suggestions for cutting down the 20 sec crank to start when cold:
- 0-30 or 5-30 synthetic oil
- good in block plug in heater
- battery on maintainer
- cycle glowplugs 2 or 3 times before cranking.
Ours starts easily with the above. Of course having bragged now, the next time it won't :-D

Re: Cold starting issuse

Just thinking a bit about your problem.........are you sure your block heater is working? Maybe it is not working properly or has come unplugged right at the block. Other things to consider: - change to 5-30 synthetic oil - cycle the glow plugs 2 or 3 times before trying to start - and has already b...
