Got it FINALLY!! The problem was that I couldn't figure out what the decoration cover was. For anybody else like me it is not on the rails for the sunroof it is the plastic bit on the sunroof glass. Once I got those off I loosened the bolts, adjusted the glass to fix the alignment. Resync the motor....

I used deep creep to unseize the glow plugs. I soaked a rag and wrapped it around the glow plugs thanks to your suggestion. It worked like a dream.
