Block Heater/Lower Rad heater Installation
I looked at doing the same, block heater was going to be to much work so I put in the lower rad hose heater. Has worked great for me easy starts down to -25

just noticed canola oil at costco is now cheaper than diesel. anyone running svo in a stock delica l400. was thinking of trying it during the summer when its hot. was thinking of running it up to 50% max

pop-off valve problem. where to source (1994) L400 turbo or wastegate
it is pretty common for the actuator arm of the turbo watergate to stick, and cause the relief valve to open. try sprain lube(wd40) down the arm where it meets the turbo. should free it up and solve your problem

well i installed a coolant heater in the lower rad hose, and plugged it in with a timer. Has improved starting tremendously very little smoke and much smother. still think that something is not right, thinking maybe the injectors, but at least it is starting better

Thanks for the reply Growler, that was my first thought as well but I used my voltmeter to test how long the plugs have power and it seems to last about 3 minutes which is standard from what I have read on here. also tried it with the sensor disconnected, which should simulate a cold start and allow...

Update. turned out to be the compressor which completely blew its bearing and became obvious this spring. priced out to fix it but ended up just selling the van and upgrading to a super exceed for the same price. problem solved

will try the princess auto kit and add some refrigerant, haven't used one before id imagine they are pretty straight forward. any problems if you over charge it?

shop did not have the factory specs, so must have based their assumptions on past experience from other vehicles

it does seem to get colder when parked and running at higher rpm. AC shop didn't notice any issues with coolant level.
