Re: Rear Heater Removal - Impact ?

Many thanks for the feedback. For the minimal effort involved I think I'll put in a loop just in case.

Rear Heater Removal - Impact ?

Hi folks In my ongoing quest to expeditionize and generally declutter my L400, I have decided to do away with the rear heater and related plumbing. Would anyone be able to tell me if cutting and plugging the in and out hoses going from the T connectors in the engine bay to the rear heater is a bad i...

Re: Cold start problem

You say you have already tried cycling the glow plugs to no avail. You may also want to take a look at the glow circuit and how well it's working. That was the problem in my hard-starting situation. See the post I submitted in reply to DeliTan's Tue Jan 05 "Unusual difficult start problem".

Re: Unusual difficult start problem

Very interested to hear the outcome of the work on your IP and other bits. I had a similar cold weather start problem, same struggle and death throes. After some poking around I suspected glow plugs and checked...only 1 plug was drawing spec current (!) with all others well under. Causes: excessivel...

Re: 12V plugs not working

You're dead right about the wire used on the Delica looms, at least on my L400. I wouldn't put any more than 5A through many of the circuits given how abysmally small a wire gauge was used. It sounds unlikely that you have a short circuit, at least not downstream of your fuse. Given that you appear ...

L400 A/C system parts

I'm going to be removing much of the a/c system from my '94 L400 with the objective of maximising access in the engine bay.
Will be doing this soon and keen to know if anyone has a need for parts.

Long Distance travellers-to-be

Hi Everyone We (wife and I) are planning to head back to South Africa...and a Delica is going to be a part of the plan. Looking at driving across the continent from Vancouver to Montreal/Maritimes, putting the van on a boat to Germany, driving through Europe, ferry to Egypt then the long way down to...

Pressure from Top Cover - Blow by or blockage ?

Looking at buying an L400 with 4M40 motor with 200k on it and picked up significant blowing when I hold my hand over the oil filler hole with the cap off and engine idling. A fair amount of oil spatters out too. No significant oil in the intercooler and none in the air filter. No smoke from the rear...
