4m41 Alternator.

Hi, I have a shiny brand new alternator that came as a spare with my diesel L400. The sticker on it says made in Japan and has part number a3ta4298a, which I think is the 120A model. I don't have the diesel van anymore and would be willing to sell this new and unused alternator, just send me a messa...

l400 GAS block heater install

Hi Barret, Not sure which one is the rc plug hole. The most accessible frost plug I can see is on the drivers side of the engine above the alternator, clearly visible when laying under the van. Is this the rc plug hole? Polar pad also sounds like a good alternative, a bit more pricey at $125 Canadia...

2002 V6, bubbles in coolant tank and oil leak

A mechanic tested for combustion gases in coolant, came back negative. I ended up buying the combustion gas test kit off Amazon and tested also, fluid did not change colour after letting gases bubble through the tester for over 3 minutes. So I guess this is just air trapped in the cooling system, or...

2002 V6, bubbles in coolant tank and oil leak

I have ordered a replacement tank on eBay, $87 with shipping from Lithuania. The listing says "Quality: very good, made by serious manufacturer", but I'm not counting on it. May look into an aluminium one in the near future. I've got it booked in at a mechanic on Friday for them to test th...

2002 V6, bubbles in coolant tank and oil leak

Hoping someone familiar with the V6 engine can give me some advice. Two weeks ago I purchased a 2002 V6 Chamonix with around 123,000km on the clock. It is advertised in the trader section of this site still and was located in Kelowna. The seller imported it himself a few months ago, had been driving...

l400 GAS block heater install

Hi Barrett,

Did you end up installing a frost plug block heater in your V6?

I may be picking up a gas Delica S3 next week and would need to install a block heater in it also. Trying to figure out the model of heater and where to install it.

Thanks

Re: Installed remote start - now no overdrive, no "OD Off" light

This is fixed now - one of the 3 wires in the loom going to the OD switch was broken on vehicle side of connector.

One wire is +12v - this one was broken.

Other 2 wires are OD On and OD Off.

Installed remote start - now no overdrive, no "OD Off" light

Over the weekend I installed an Avital 5303L remote starter and alarm in my 1996 L400 Diesel. Lots of work figuring out which wires to connect to, but I got it all installed and was very surprised when the remote starter worked first go! While poking around I must have shorted something out and blew...

Re: Wire near glow plugs not attached, 4M40

Not stainless, just your regular steel 2.5inch exhaust from flex pipe all the way to the back bumper. The tip is angled slightly down and to the side. The muffler has a lifetime warranty and the rest of the exhaust has a 1 yr warranty. Another shop qouted the same price for the job, so I guess I got...

Re: 4M-40 Block Heater Guide

Tojo - did you end up fitting this Zerostart/Temro P/N 3100071 block heater in your Delica?

A block heater is on the to do list for my L400 series 1, just hoping someone can confirm that this one will fit.

Thanks

Re: Wire near glow plugs not attached, 4M40

The Dynomax muffler was about $200 and the whole exhaust install with tax was $600.

The exhaust sounds pretty good to me, not much louder at all then the stock setup. My stock exhaust looked to be in pretty good shape, except for splits in the tail pipe after the muffler.

Re: Wire near glow plugs not attached, 4M40

Ahh, ill have a look for the oil pressure sensor and also replace the splice with a butt connector - got no idea why the splice is there. The cable with a rubber boot is the glow plug bus bar power cable, it is connected and the glow plugs seem to work. We will see about that come winter though. Whe...

Wire near glow plugs not attached, 4M40

Hi, About a month ago I purchased a 1996 L400 turbo diesel. I think it has been in Canada since 2013. This morning I had a 2.5 inch exhaust installed from flex pipe back with a Dynomax Ultra Flo muffler - drives much better now, lots more power. I will have to get used to not accelerating so hard, b...
