I read in a Pajero thread that cylinder head cracks tend to happen to the 4m40 over time.
Would a repair shop be able to do a pressure test to tell me if it indeed is the cylinder head and not just the gasket?

head gasket leak?
I think I need a new head gasket, white smoke when I start cold or press on the accelerator (unburnt fuel?). My engine overheated last month (one belt broke, more like exploded, and destroyed the other two). Am I right to think it's the gasket? I see different brand names on eBay... are they...

12V plugs not working
Both plugs stopped working, I blame myself for having tried a 12V tire pump in them. The rear accessory plug has a 20A fuse but maybe, being 21 years old (May 1994 model), the old components just couldn't take the load. The fuses are all fine, so I thought it might have been the plug itself (I hear ...

rusted caliper bolt
I changed the brake pads in the rear left, but in the rear right the bottom caliper bolt is rusted in place and won't budge. Now it's starting to get stripped. I"m not an auto mechanic, what would you do in this instance, use a torch to free the bolt out of there? Earlier this year a repair sho...

OEM jack on asphalt == bad idea
Raised my Delica tonight with the jack, to change a rear brake pad... The OEM jack sank into the asphalt soon after I took the wheel off, the jack leaned forward and the van moved about two inches forward, enough for the jack to tip over. I am off to buy axle stands and a new jack asap. My v...

Re: adding a retractable side step
Exactly; last week my seventy-something mother had a bit of trouble exiting the vehicle, because the side step doesn't extend outward. I reminded her every time about the long handle on the right when you exit, that helped her a bit. Sounds like people don't really notice the side step though. Oh we...

adding a retractable side step
Some later models have a retractable side step, do you find it useful?
I wonder if it might be possible to install one on an older Delica model which didn't come with one.
Might not be worth the hassle though, if the step isn't all that useful.

what does the top of your rear ladder look like?
I bought a ladder from Japan, not a Terzo but probably they all hook up the same way. Mine ends with just two bolts at the top, I am wondering what the two bolts connect to normally. Some kind of plate I imagine which goes below the door and ceiling, possibly rubber? Can you take a picture and post ...

PF8W Royal Exceed Delica spotted in Ottawa
While driving in Ottawa last week, spotted a PF8W about to turn onto Iris, toward Ikea in Ottawa.
I honked, my wife waved and the surprised driver waved back.
Don't worry, you're probably still the only Delica owner in Ottawa, we drove back to Halifax yesterday.

Re: Delica and Nova Scotia Insurance
I replied to a PM from him. We deal with Johnson's Insurance, but we end up paying "facility" rates -- i.e. really high rates because the auto insurance companies don't really want to cover RHD vehicles. They also keep asking me to double-check my VIN, surely the one I sent them is wrong, ...
