A 1989 Vanwagon for your amusement

The tank inside is actually very clean, found during the in-tank pickup filter replacement! I ended up welding the manifold myself - couldn't reach inside some spots, so it still leaks just a bit. Ah well - not the end of the world to me. I actually DO have a set of tube headers, bought from Austral...

Sup deli-mongers, I recently caused a head gasket failure on the engine in my van after botching a timing belt inspection. Crazy to think it was coming up on 80K miles under my watch. But I took the opportunity to do a top-end rebuild and replace most of the pistons; also got to inspect a lot of oth...

US Version '87 Van Wagon (?)

Wow, that thing is clean . As someone who has the unfortunate luck of living in the northeast, I envy anything this old which isn't riddled with rust. My short assessment based only on the photos and information presented: - 3.5 to 4 is fair for this body and interior condition plus a conclusive tes...

New England area L300/Van mechanics

I'm looking to get my USDM van's engine (G64B) rebuilt and would like to keep it in the family first. I'd like any recommendations on NE area Delica/Mitsubishi mechanics, centered around the Boston area. I don't mind travelling for delivery and have a tow vehicle for it in case all hell breaks loose...

Van Wagon in the snow?

VERY WELL THANK YOU http://etotheipiplusone.net/stuff/vansonvans.gif I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS http://etotheipiplusone.net/stuff/vansonvans2.gif Haha... more seriously, you should just get a good set of winter tires for starters, and I've found it does better with another hundred pounds or two in the b...

Check your fuel vapor trap (charcoal canister) and the fuel injector O-rings. The last time I had a fuel smell, it was a dead obvious O-ring failure once unearthed. It began as a faint smell at stoplights and progressed to open-windows only before I found it. Because the injectors are inside the int...

eBay auction - Mitsubishi Van / L300 Center Console

Howdy, I replaced my 1989 van's center console with a JDM version last week. The old one which is still in good shape is now on ebay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/172501104822?item=172501104822&viewitem=&vxp=mtr Since the international part swapped onto the US van with no problem, I assume the ...

That battery cover looks exactly like mine, which is a USDM model. It's bilaterally symmetric so should work fine. I have indeed been haunting eBay for 2WD international L300 parts. Incidentally, I just got this JDM cupholder center console today! Drop-in fit, was in and out in 5 minutes. http://www...

Awesome! Yours looks like it's in better body condition than mine - which lived in PA for most of its life, and it continues to be a constant cat-and-mouse game with road salt here in New England. Many Delica 3rd generation parts cross over without modification. I got a new taillight module off eBay...

Hah, I'm actually not sure. I passed through a truck scale on the way back home with it but it was not operational at the time. Based on internet haunting, 6,300lb curb. The door sticker shows 9,500 GVW. Through a different truck scale trip, my van which has all seats and additionally had some tools...

Unrelated but somewhat exciting news, my van now has a playmate... http://etotheipiplusone.net/pics/vt/vt2-mid.jpg 1986 Centurion Cruiser III, a "half E350, half F350" Ford conversion van-truck and a testament to the excesses and gluttony of the 1980s. It's phenomenally massive... they are...

Lets wake this forum up a bit!

Handled fun on curvy roads?! I have one of those! I took mine up and around the Smoky Mountains in September. It handles unexpectedly well in the mountains, especially with some more rear ballast.

Re: Lets wake this forum up a bit!

Oh man, I just got around to trying to recover my password. For some reason it wasn't what I thought it was, and I locked myself out of my account trying to guess it  Ever since the "Accidental Engine Rebuild of 2015", I've done almost nothing maintenance-wise. It's almost boring . ...
