Shut down and stayed down
Issue resolved. I retorqued the inj pump pulley back home and added some red high strength loctitie to the threads in hopes to never suffer this issue again. I used a ball pein hammer to carefully tap the cracked front housing back into place as best as possible. Using some 2 part Devcon plastic ste...

Hi Growlerbearnz, Thanks for the reply Nope not fixed. Worse actually. .. While messing about with it yesterday I all of a sudden noticed a crack in the front cover in way of the inj pump timing gear area. I immediately removed the pump to find that the nut had in fact backed off and so had the timi...

Shut down and stayed down
HELP! Hi all I own a l400 with the 4m40 diesel. I use it as my daily driver. Yesterday while running some errands, she stalled while driving along a main road at ~40km/hr. I was able to pull off and into a parking lot. I figured it was an air in fuel issue as it just seemed to loose power and shut d...

L400 engine mileage
No, Its been 11 years since I last worked on her. Other ships since. Same company. I did however, spend a month in the drydock on her sister. It was quite fun actually. Almost identical. The biggest difference was that rather than having 3 Caterpillar 398's for the ships service generators, she was ...

L400 engine mileage
In My Humble Opinion: I've got a 1992 Starwagon (L300) with a 4D56T Mighty Astron engine. I bought her in January,'08 with 61,XXX kilometres on her. She now has 218,500 kliks on her. This engine (and maybe the 4M40) has a 21:1 compression ratio, they are built strong. Having discussed this with the...

Re: Drivers side (RH) Window motor or entire regulator
Hi, Originally I replaced the brushes from a princess auto bargain bin motor. Easy job, done it many times in the past with other vehicles. This one however, after coming back to life, would catch and grind once it hit a specific point. I opened up the "unopenable" motor gearbox to find th...

Re: Stereo harness adapter?
I purchased mine off the shelf at Walmart when I purchased the van. I'm sorry I cannot remember any details on it but if I recall it was labeled as Mitsubishi. It was under 20 as I recall.

Re: sunroof -- stuck open!
try pulling it slightly while pushing the button and see if you can manual align it as it closes. Failing this, you will find a hex head socket under the forward interior light which you can use an allen key to manually close it. You may need to break off the round cover to access it. The cover will...

While it could be a timing issue due to a slipped belt (and we cannot tell due to the fact the pointer is missing), what I would do first is start it and while it is idling, crack open each injector pipe at the injector top one at a time. If it is an injector, issue when you find the faulty fellow t...

Re: Pyro and Boost gauge - what kind and where did you mount
You can easily make it yourself. I used a piece of 1/4" plate steel I had laying around for the exhaust manifold side. I traced out a paper template of the shape and bolt hole pattern and glued it to the steel as a drill template. I was later able to drill and tap a center hole to mount the com...
