HELP! Paint

As these wagons typically have a base coat/clear coat system ~ unless you are through the green to the primer ~ I'd recommend getting a spray can of acrylic clear coat. I think most auto supply shops ought to carry this but also auto paint shops, such as White & Peters, should carry this product. F...

I know, I went from nearly a heart attack, to a huge sigh of relief when my windows didn't get touched!

CV Boot Strap

thelazygreenfox wrote:Princess sells stainless straps that self tighten. They're good, i've used them a lot on boots. Wind up the ends to tighten w needle nose pliers. Clip off the excess with side cutters.
Thanks, are these the kind that don't require any special tools, only pliers as you mention?

CV Boot Strap

I know the tool can be bought from princess auto, but the van is on stacks right now and I can't drive there.

Is there a locally available replacement strap I can use instead of getting OEM? What's the length?

CV Boot Strap

Does anyone know where I can get the strap and tool to secure the CV boot to the hub? I previously used heavy duty zip tie (as recommended by someone else) but it slipped off. Sorry for the bad pictures, here is the spot WITHOUT the strap http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f71/stevota/Mobile%20Upload...

Worldwide Part Availability

I realize parts are accessible here in Canada, especially in Vancouver area. But what about other places... is it easy to find parts (without having to ship from Canada) I'm thinking about all the people that drive down to Mexico or Central/South America in L400's... if the van broke down, are there...

Re: Ball joint quality

I bought a set from eBay, shipped from Taiwan. The bottom ones are sealed without a grease nipple, but the tops came with a little bolt and a grease fitting.

I don't know how long they will last, but I hope they last me at least a few years!

Re: Shocks

That's the nugget of info I was looking for!! Thanks But apparently there are ECS wires that will conflict with these?? If you have ECS you can tie them out of the way (like I did) or if you want to permanently remove it, just cut the wires. The ECS shocks are expensive to get here...so likely you ...

Re: Shocks

Procomp is one option from Lordco or others: not this site, but another, and very informative: Here is a list of the correct fitment for Pro-Comp shocks on L400's : Front: 913515 or 913518 914515 or 914518 Any of the above four numbers will fit an L400 and don't worry if the last digit is missing of...

Re: Spare Tire

I installed the new tire on my spare and threw it underneath, and I was surprised that it fit in the tire cage and I was able to raise it up. I'm assuming it wont wind up as high as normal, but it seems pretty well tucked in there.
