Front marker light bulb

Hello all, My white lens front bumper marker light bulb has burned out. I don't know what else to call it. It's the front lamp assembly that houses the amber turn signal, and the white lamp that comes on with the first turn of the light switch, or with the fog light switch. It's the only front facin...

Front axle questions

Hello everyone, On my 89 Starwagon I have needed a new boot on the left front axle since I got it almost 3 years ago. I had asked my importer to repair it, but it never happened. I have the boots, but still haven't got around to doing it. However when I was on the beach a couple of weeks ago I heard...

THERMO COOLANT SENSOR/GUAGES

I'm trying to remember back to when I had my vanwagon. I'm certain one switch locked out overdrive until the engine was up to a certain temperature. One locked out A/C clutch until the engine was a certain temperature. One was for the ecu to reference, and the last was the sender for the gauge. I do...

wires

Hard to say, but if they are in the vacinity of the transfer case they could be used to illuminate the 4wd light on the dash when you shift the transfer case lever. I doubt they have anything to do with cooling, but all of that mud and dirt might be contributing to the cooling issues if it is all ov...

Hand throttle assemby, and turbo oil return gasket

Hello all, i need a new hand throttle assembly as mine doesn't lock the way it is supposed to. Also the turbo oil return line on my van is dripping, so I need a new gasket that goes between the fitting and the turbo. I can't seem to be able to find such part online. My van is an 89 P25 if that matte...

Engine knocking

So, I think I may try to remove the EGR valve, and see what it looks like on the inside. I think I'd like to blank it off, but right now , maybe just give it an inspection, and clean up. What are the chances I can get it out without ruining the gasket? Where can I get a new gasket for it? Also it lo...

Engine knocking

So, if it was the EGR that was causing my issues(not convinced), what was it doing that could cause it to run so poorly, and sound like it was coming apart?

Thanks for the response. I don't think the oil change did anything either. I hope to remove the injectors and get them tested soon. I want to block off the egr ASAP. Maybe even install an egt gauge.

Engine knocking

Hello everyone. I don't post up in here much anymore for whatever reason. I will let you know that on Sunday I changed the oil, and oil filter on the Delica, as well as the fuel filter. I also disconnected the vacuum line to the EGR valve. I took the van out yesterday evening to go play volleyball. ...

Engine knocking

Brought the van to an all Japanese car show on the 16th. About an hour drive that was mostly highway. Performed flawlessly. Won two trophies somehow. Got in the van to leave and had some really black smoke and low on power for maybe 2-3 minutes but then ran fine the rest of the way home. Drove it la...

Engine knocking

Okay so under further investigation and taking the van to south shore diesel I think it may be turbo or EGR related. I drove the van over to the diesel shop and had no issues what so ever. He listened to it, and revved the snot of it with no issues aside from a puff of smoke here and there. When I s...

Re: Engine knocking

Also, if the advance plunger is sticky, can it be fixed with any sort of additive in the fuel, or is it only repairable with a teardown? I'm leaning towards the advance plunger because it doesn't act funny at idle, and only makes noise when revving.

Re: Engine knocking

If I end up needing an injection pump rebuild /replacement is there a how to online that can step me through removal /reinstall? Also I'm assuming the pump is nothing crazy and is like any other rotary injection pump, meaning it should be rebuildable by any competent diesel shop. Any online specs fo...
