Re: Lack of Power / Possible blown turbo
anytime I hear that the overflow bottle has dumped coolant, I think pressurized cooling system via cracked head. Watch your coolant levels like a hawk - both in the overflow, and in the radiator. You may see no other symptoms of a cracked head except this. I know your inlet relief valve is gone - bu...

Re: Mystery bubbles in coolent
Unfortunately, the symptoms are consistent with a cracked head. My van showed none of the usual tell tale symptoms (oil in coolant, coolant in oil, white smoke, etc) except for the over pressurized cooling system. The longer you drive, the more it pressurizes and it eventually starts dumping coolant...

Re: Head Issues - Pls tell me I am wrong
Watch the coolant level like a hawk. This is exactly how my head went - the only symptom was the loss of coolant through the overflow reservoir. Basically, all the cracked head did was to over pressurize the cooling system forcing coolant out. There were NO other symptoms. I was able to drive the va...

Re: Would YOU pay 19k for an L300?
I'd guess they are aiming at the collector market - no one would pay that much for a daily driver. Pristine L300s are getting pretty hard to come by and they are much more iconic than the L400s. I could see it parked beside a trabant, a reliant robin, a Citroën 2CV, BMW Isetta etc., in some rich guy...

Whew! when I first read the title, I thought it said "single with bed" I was afraid it was a really bad personal ad. . . .

Maiden voyage for the teardrop trailer - not quite finished, but it was awesome. It's funny, usually feel like a rock star in my L300 in the states - but now my van hardly gets noticed.

Is is really a rescue vehicle, or is it like one of those Lamborghini police cars? Cool, but it needs wings.

Re: annual repairs
Did you try Rising Sun? I replaced mine with a 100A non oem. $380 not cheap, but it was the cheapest one I could find. Don't delay fixing it though - the overcharging issue destroyed my glow plug system - which was also not a cheap fix. I was driving my already warmed up van when it started to click...

That's a nice match with your van. My advice: take it real slow when pulling anything. Pay attention to your right foot, even if you are going really slow, resist the temptation. Decide what is a comfortable amount of throttle, and don't exceed it, even if you slow down to 30 km/hr on the highway. A...

Re: Delica Trader - Flash Sale on my 1995 L400 LWB Royal Exc
It makes me want to cry that I don't have $6000 for this van. I paid much more than this to import and insure an L400 myself from Japan - and that was with none of the upgrades or repairs, and all the risk of buying sight unseen. I can't believe no one has snapped this up.

Don't get the 8 seater if you have two kids. The middle bench only has one shoulder belt, and one spine snapping, paraplegic creating, lap belt in the middle. The jump seat is not a comfortable seat, even though it has a shoulder belt. The seven seaters, on the other hand, have two beautiful captain...

If you are not fussy, and you have some patience and self control, expect to pay about 1/2 what you pay here when you buy at auction for a landed and inspected vehicle. Also expect to assume all the risks of importing. Personally, I'm addicted to the auctions. Plan to replace cooling system when it ...

Once again I agree with Rattlenbang. I don't begrudge the offshore companies for producing the goods. It's the huge multinationals in bed with Neoliberal governments that have, and continue to decimate our very way of life. If I can get the same offshore goods, without feeding the bear that's rampag...
